Former Indian captain and batsman Sourav Ganguly will make his debut in the publishing world with A Century Is Not Enough which will be published by Juggernaut Books.

Ganguly is one of Indian cricket's most prominent, outspoken, and controversial figures, taking over the reins of captaincy in 2000 after the match-fixing scandal singed the sport and becoming one of its most celebrated captains, credited for injecting a new aggression into the team.

The stirring image of Ganguly's standing bare-bodied in the visiting team's balcony of the hallowed Lord's Cricket Ground in 2002, waving his shirt furiously after India had pulled off an improbable chase in the final of the NatWest series, is burnt into the collective memory of Indian cricket fans.

However, controversy also followed him – he was accused of faking an injury and pulling out of a Test match against Australia in 2004, because of the green nature of the surface. His infamous spat with Indian coach Greg Chappell – whose entry he had initiated – which led to his ouster in 2005 divided an entire nation. After being out of the team for over a year, Ganguly made a triumphant comeback to national colours.

"Sourav Ganguly is one of India’s greatest captains, and one of the most interesting cricketers we have ever produced," said the publisher Chiki Sarkar. "We believe A Century Is Not Enough will become a book that readers – and not just cricket fans – will turn to again and again."

The former India captain and current president of the Cricket Association of Bengal will collaborate with senior cricket writer Gautam Bhattacharya to write the book. Fans will be keenly awaiting revelations and insights from Dada, as he was called.
