How easy is it to write a book in the heat and dust of the Indian city? A writing retreat in the hills or by the sea would be wonderful, but who can afford it?

Enter Penguin Random House India. India’s largest English language publishers are offering a mouthwatering month in the blue Nilgiris – a beautiful cottage in Kodaikanal, to be precise. All you have to do is win the fellowship that will let you live there and write to your heart’s content – provided you can tear your eyes away from what lies in front of them.

The residency is for the month of November, 2016. To apply, writers will have to send a short description of their work and bio, and a writing sample of up to 2000 words. All of this by June 15.
