Find a book to read, find a date to hook up with
A publisher and a dating app are collaborating, with all sorts of interesting possibilities.
Hooking up over a book? Sound just right for readers in search of a date. Now publishers Penguin Random House and the hot dating app Tinder are, well, joining hands to help book lovers across Delhi meet and check their chemistry.
At PRH’s annual literary and cultural festival Spring Fever, on from March 15 to 20, a little corner has been set up for exactly this purpose. Called the Tinder Nook, the space invites Tinder users to lounge around, browse the open library, and… you know the rest.
Of course, it’s all a bit cheesy. Those using the dating app in Delhi will find themselves matched up with a character named Spring Fever on their profiles through which they can register themselves to meet people at the event.
It was all very tentative at first, and it isn’t clear whether this twist on the app is working. Still, you can’t fault the publishers for looking for new ways to build book-buyers’ communities. And those who couldn’t find a match could have just picked up Aziz Ansari’s Modern Love instead.
