William Dalrymple is obviously a prize catch for an Indian publisher. His popular history books sell in large numbers, and he’s a true literary celebrity.

Dalrymple has so far been publishing primarily with Penguin Books in India. But that is about to change now. Juggernaut has already announced that it will be publishing his next work of history, which is about the Kohinoor. And now, HarperCollins has a bit of Dalrymple in its life too, in the form of his first book of photographs, The Writer’s Eye.

Dalrymple’s black and white photographs are going to be in the book as well as in an exhibition curated by novelist and photographer Siddharth Dhanvant Shanghvi. Comprising mostly landscapes, the new book should show the writer in a new light.

Meanwhile, there’s this gem from Dalrymple’s oeuvre to go back to.
